Happy New Year
The year 2011 is coming to an end and its a bittersweet feeling for me. Rock was dead in 2011. Pitiful. Due to the lack of original and unique new rock bands that have not emerged and also due to my favourite bands taking forever on new material, rock was chewed up and spit out. This has caused me to develop a taste in other genres of music. Therefore, I have some interesting plans as to what I'd like to cover in my blog for 2012. Perhaps some reviews in the reggae or electronic genres? Maybe some jazz and adult contemporary? Yes, you read that correctly.
If rock doesn't make an impact in 2012, then let December 23rd be doomsday. Happy New Year :)

Senate-First Hit
If you haven't read my post on Senate, please do. After, please absorb as much of their music as possible. On December 30th, I discovered via the Senate myspace that the band is scheduled to have a reunion show on January 19th, 2012. However, it isn't a Senate reunion, it's a First Hit reunion. My understanding is that Blake Johnson and company formed First Hit before Senate. Therefore, each current and former member will play material from both Senate and First Hit. It should be a great show and it's too bad that it's in Florida. You can visit the First Hit facebook page here. They have posted one particular song called "Two Stars" which apparently is an old song written during the First Hit era. To be honest, when I saw the brief video that Blake posted on his Youtube account, I assumed it was new Senate in the works. Never-the-less it has the trademark Senate sound. Wait...no it has the First Hit sound. Sigh. Anyways, it's good music! Hopefully either band has a new album for 2012.
